Trails To Wellness – Meditation And Forest Bathing

Friends of the Riverfront is hosting our first ever “Trails to Wellness” campaign this May 2019 in correlation with Mental Health Awareness month. We are eager and excited to promote the benefits that being outdoors and being active can have on your wellbeing. We will be hosting a series of diverse activities, to highlight that the Three Rivers Heritage Trail is truly a place where everyone can do anything.
Forest bathing? Forest bathing! There is growing evidence to suggest that exposure to natural environments can be associated with mental health benefits; Swimsuits not needed to soak up the sights, sounds, and experiences of the outdoors. In our efforts to promote the link between nature and mental health, 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. and Friends of the Riverfront have partnered with Lolo Schaffer, a local meditation guide, for a walking meditation. This 1.5 hour group class will include a guided introduction to forest bathing along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. We will depart from Riverfront Park in Millvale at 7:00 PM and return to the park pavilion and grassy area for a seated meditation. Class is donation based, give what you can.
