SUMMARY:Train on the Trail - Aquatic Species & River Health
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Riverfront for a special Train on the Water Trail program and explore Plum Creek!  \n\nCreek Connections will be sharing their knowledge of freshwater ecosystems and demonstrate how aquatic species monitoring helps inform conservation and restoration efforts throughout the region. Participants will learn how scientists\, educators\, and conservationists use aquatic insects\, fish\, and other freshwater organisms as indicators of water quality. Through hands-on exploration and guided discussion\, we’ll discover the connections between aquatic species\, habitat conditions\, and the overall health of our watershed. \n\nPlease wear closed-toe shoes that stay securely on your feet and that you do not mind getting wet. Shoes should provide adequate protection and traction for walking and wading on the creek bottom. Sandals\, flip-flops\, Crocs\, and other loose-fitting footwear are not recommended. Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather. Bring a reusable water bottle\, water refills will be available. All other program supplies and equipment will be provided. \n\nThe 2026 Train on the Trail series offers enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience\, including water quality awareness\, heritage and history of the three rivers\, bird identification\, and more! \n\nAn email will be sent the day before the event with details. DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Riverfront for another Train on the Water Trail session and explore the Monongahela River!  \n\nThree Rivers Waterkeeper will be leading an in-person training session where participants will learn about what pollution to look for and how to report it while you’re out on the Three Rivers Water Trail\, followed by a short paddle along the Monongahela River at the Three Rivers Water Trail Launch in Elizabeth\, PA. Participants with their own kayak or canoes are encouraged to bring them; Friends will provide seats in one of our kayak\, tandem kayak\, or canoes for those that do not have their own! Registration will be limited. \n\nThe 2026 Train on the Trail series offers enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience\, including identifying native and invasive plants\, watercraft safety\, tree identification\, and more! \n\nAn email will be sent the day before the event with details. SUMMARY:2026 Slammin' Cans Graffiti Jam
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Color Park on Saturday\, October 10th from 2-8pm for a day filled with art\, brews\, and community fun!\n\n\nThis event will feature live mural paintings by graffiti artists\, a collaborative community mural all are welcome to add to\, several brewery pop-ups\, and food trucks. This FREE event is to celebrate a space along the trail meant for art\, expression\, and community. The Color Park is an integral and iconic space along the trail that Friends helps to steward and develop.\n\n\nWe hope you join us at the 2026 Slammin’ Cans Graffiti Jam!  Paint for community murals will be provided.\n\n\nFind more information about the event here.
