Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather\, we will work through light to moderate rain. If we need to cancel\, volunteers will be notified the morning of the event via email. Bring a reusable water bottle\, water refills will be available. All other project supplies and equipment will be provided.\n\n\nOnce registered\, you will receive a confirmation email. SUMMARY:Water & Land Trail Care Thursday - Tarentum
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Tarentum Launch on the Allegheny River section of the Three Rivers Water & Heritage Trail for a land and river-based Trail Care opportunity!\n\n\nLearn about Tarentum’s trail development and future connections from our Trail Development Project Manager from 9:00-9:30am followed by a litter cleanup!\n\n\n\nVolunteers will split into two groups both starting at the Tarentum launch:\n	Land based – walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and surrounding areas collecting litter\n	Water based – launch and paddle upstream along the Allegheny River docking along the riverbanks to collect litter\n\nWater based registration is limited to 12 participants total; if you have your own vessel (kayak or canoe)\, we encourage you to bring it. We have 12 available seats in the Friends fleet in a kayak or canoe for those that do not have their own. Previous paddling experience recommended. If you are a beginner or have never paddled before\, please email Ashley Martin at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org and we can discuss! There is no registration limit for the land based portion.\n\nPlease wear sturdy close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and layered sleeves to be removed. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Color Park on Saturday\, October 10th from 1-6pm for a day filled with art\, brews\, and community fun!\n\n\nThis event will feature live mural paintings by graffiti artists\, a collaborative community mural all are welcome to add to\, several brewery pop-ups\, and food trucks. This FREE event is to celebrate a space along the trail meant for art\, expression\, and community. The Color Park is an integral and iconic space along the trail that Friends helps to steward and develop.\n\n\nWe hope you join us at the 2026 Slammin’ Cans Graffiti Jam!  Paint for community murals will be provided.\n\n\nFind more information about the event here.

SUMMARY:Train on the Water Trail - Heritage & History Float
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Riverfront for the final Train on the Water Trail session of the season! \n\nRivers of Steel will share their knowledge of our region’s riverfront heritage and history during and evening float on the Monongahela River between the Braddock Water Trail Launch and Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark. Participants will learn about indigenous history\, steel valley heritage\, and present day reinvention and community connection with local riverfronts that will increase their understanding and enjoyment of the Three Rivers Heritage and Water Trails.\n\nDue to on-water safety considerations and limited watercraft capacity\, this event will be limited to 16 participants. Up to 8 participants may bring their own non-motorized watercraft; 8 seats in Friends fleet will be provide on a first come first served basis. A detailed participant overview will be provided to all registered participants in advance.\n\nThe 2026 Train on the Trail series offers enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience\, including water quality awareness\, heritage and history of the three rivers\, bird identification\, and more!\n\nEmail Alex Toner\, Director of Trail Stewardship\, with any questions at alex@friendsoftheriverfront.org.
