Update: Work is ongoing as of 3/1/2021

PennDOT has announced that an around-the-clock lane restriction on Second Avenue (Route 885) in Oakland will begin Tuesday, December 15 at 9:00 a.m. The single-lane restriction will occur in the southbound (outbound) direction of Second Avenue between Hot Metal Street and Blair River Road continuously through Friday, January 15 while crews conduct drainage, sidewalk, and curb improvements.

Contractors have implemented a pedestrian/bicycle detour at the Hot Metal/Second Avenue intersection which will last for the entirety of the work's anticipated duration of four weeks for roadway, sidewalk, and signal installation work, though this detour may be extended due to inclement weather conditions as needed.

Pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured from the southeast of Second Avenue and Hot Metal Bridge intersection to the northwest corner of the same intersection by way of the Hazelwood Trail connector and private sidewalk encompassing the Bridgeside Point building complex.
