DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Riverfront for 2025’s eighth Train on the Trail session!\n\n\nUpstream Pittsburgh will be leading an in-person training session where participants will learn about watershed quality\, the history and restoration work in Nine Mile Run\, plastic pollution\, and more! This event will consist of a one mile hike on the Nine Mile Trail to Duck Hollow and back. Participants will have the opportunity to do a hands-on microplastic collection and litter clean-up.  \n\n\nThe 2025 Train on the Trail series will offer enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience\, including native and invasive plants\, watercraft safety\, tree identification\, and more!\n\n\nAn email will be sent the day before the event with details. DESCRIPTION:Join us on the Duck Hollow segment of the Three Rivers Heritage & Water Trail for Trail Care Saturday!\n\n\nFriends of the Riverfront joins Allegheny CleanWays (ACW) for a day of volunteering on the Three Rivers Heritage & Water Trail.\n\nVolunteers will be split into two groups. Land based work will be lead by Friends including undesired vegetation removal\, tree tending\, litter pickup\, and other trail maintenance needs. Water based work will be lead by ACW including collecting litter that has accumulated along the riverfront of the Monongahela River. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in both land and water based work.\n\nPlease wear sturdy shoes\, long pants\, and layered sleeves to be removed. We recommend that you bring a reusable water bottle\, and a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home – participants may get wet/muddy. All other project supplies and equipment for land and river based work will be provided.\n\nAn email will be sent the week of the event with a detailed volunteer overview.
