Autumn Trail Bike Ride

October 15 @ 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm
RESCHEDULED: Join Friends of the Riverfront, Bike Pittsburgh, and Women at Work Cycling Club in a group trail bicycle ride during peak Autumn on Sunday, October 15th!
We are excited to celebrate another successful year of advocating for trails, cycling, and expanding and promoting safe routes for everyone to enjoy.  We want to thank all of the participants, volunteers, community members, and more for working together to make this work happen.  We want to celebrate with you!  Join us for a casual autumn bike ride on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail!
Ride details:
The Ride will begin at the Strip District segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, at the intersection of 24th st.  Riders can meet at 3:30pm and ride begins promptly at 4:00pm!
Cyclists can enjoy a casual paced ride (approx 8 -12mph with a few stops) along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. This is all trail, less than 1% road riding.
Choose between the longer sightseeing 20 mile route, or the shorter 10 mile ride and appreciate all of the beauty that peak fall has to offer.
The ride will begin at 24th St and Strip District Segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and end at the starting point. Watch as the sun begins to set on a beautiful Autumn day in Pittsburgh, from the view from a bike!
Riders may come along for the entire 18-mile ride or can have the option to take a shorter 10-mile loop that splits off from the group to return to the start around the halfway mark. The longer “sightseeing route” is a great opportunity to see many parts of Pittsburgh and will take approximately 2 hours to complete. The shorter 10-mile loop should take approximately 1 hour to complete.
Both the shorter first half of the ride and the longer route will include just a few stops along the way to showcase a few sites of “Spooky Pittsburgh history” we encourage riders to stay together as much as possible to be able to enjoy these stops along the way.
All riders will end back where we started at 24th St and the Strip District segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, where you can then join us for a casual social gathering at Cinderlands Warehouse in the Strip District!
Cinderlands has great indoor games, food and brews, including hard ciders from Arsenal Cider!
Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome to join the ride! The group, including the sweepers and marshals will maintain a casual pace of 8 – 12 mph. If you would like to enjoy the ride at a slower pace, outside of the group, please let ride leaders know. Both routes can be found on the “Ride with GPS” app. Everyone is welcome to join us when they finish the route for the social gathering at Cinderlands!
The ride is free, registration is not required, but if you can take a moment to RSVP via this Facebook event link:
RSVP’s will help us immensely in preparing for the number of cyclists who plan to attend.
Thanks again to everyone who supported a successful season of cycling, trail development, advocacy, clean ups and more!
We hope that you will join us and celebrate the lovely Autumn season on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail in Pittsburgh!
