(CANCELLED) Train on the Trail – Watercraft Basics & Safety

May 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Due to weather conditions, we are cancelling this event. Check our Events Calendar regularly for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities!

Join Friends of the Riverfront for 2024’s third Train on the Trail installment!

American Canoe Association certified Instructor, Jamie Cortese, will be leading us on an introductory level overview of kayak and canoe basics, foundational non-motorized safety, and general approaches to launching and paddling our Three Rivers! This event takes place during 2024’s National Safe Boating Week, celebrated locally by the Pittsburgh Safe Boating Commission. Participants with their own kayak or canoes are encouraged to bring them; Friends will rent kayaks from 3 Rivers Outdoor Company for those that do not have their own! There will be both land and water components; registration will be limited to the first 20 participants.

The 2024 Train on the Trail series will offer enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience, including native and invasive plants, watercraft safety, tree pruning and identification, riparian ecosystems, and more!

An email will be sent the week of the event with details. Email Ashley Martin, Trail Stewardship Program Coordinator, with any questions at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org.
