Event Description: Three Rivers Waterkeeper, Friends of Nancy Werner Park, Friends of the Riverfront, and Allegheny Cleanways will be joining forces to do stewardship work and clean up Six Mile Island on the Allegheny River. We will meet at the James Sharp Landing in Sharpsburg and we’ll boat all volunteers a few minutes upriver to the island. We will be knocking down knotweed, planting willows, and moving debris onto boats.
This is considered a moderate cleanup so we would recommend all participants be prepared for lifting and digging.
What to wear/bring: Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and cleanup work. Please wear closed-toe shoes. We recommend wearing long-sleeved shirt and long pants. Bring water to stay hydrated We will have gloves, lifejackets, and all other necessary safety equipment for volunteers. Space is limited so register today! We’re excited to get out there and give love to PA’s 2024 River of the Year! Max Registration #: 30
