Verona Accessible Kayak Launch Grand Opening

June 1 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join us and our partners Steel City Rowing and Verona Borough to celebrate the launch of something big — Verona’s brand-new ADA accessible dock! We’re throwing a riverfront party jam packed with FREE activities to mark this exciting milestone, and you’re invited to kick off the summer with us!   We’re starting the day with a guided meditation at 9:00 AM with @awakenpittsburgh to get you grounded and ready for a beautiful morning by the river. Then at 9:45 AM, join us for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the launch!   The fun keeps rolling:
  • 🛶 Guided Paddle & Island Tour with @alleghneylandtrust(10:30 AM–12:30 PM) — FREE but space is limited! Registration required!
  • 🧘 Yoga by the Water with @beyogaoakmont(10:30 AM) — Stretch, breathe, and flow riverside!
  • 🎣 Fishing Demonstration with @ventureoutdoors (11:00 AM) — Learn tips and tricks from the pros.
  • 🍔 Food Truck Eats  @konaice @Sharksgrill412— Tasty bites for purchase to fuel your day!
  • 💬 Public Feedback Station — Help shape the future of the Verona riverfront and VOPP Trailhead!
We have planned a day full of fun for the whole family to enjoy! This accessible launch will be a valuable addition to the Three Rivers Water Trail, providing river access and enjoyment to all. Please note: While the launch and paddle are ADA accessible, please note that Sycamore Island is not and may not be suitable for all abilities. The meditation and yoga session are ADA accessible, and fishing may not be suitable for all abilities. Please reach out to Katherine@friendsoftheriverfront.org for any additional information regarding accessibility conditions. Register for your seat on the paddle here, Paddle Registration.
The Verona Accessible Kayak Launch was financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program Environmental Stewardship Fund under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation and a grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation, both administered through the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers – Ohio Basin Access for Canoes and Kayaks Grant Program and Statewide Watershed Access Grant Program.
