Volunteers will:
- Learn how to identify, collect, and properly handle seeds from native plants growing along the riverfront
The seeds collected during this event will help support future habitat restoration and native planting efforts throughout the region. Fourth River Workers Guild will share their expertise in local ecology, native plant communities, and seed stewardship while guiding volunteers through the collection process. This is a great opportunity to learn about Pittsburgh’s native landscapes, contribute to ecological restoration, and help build a more resilient riverfront ecosystem.
No prior experience is necessary. Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and layered sleeves to be removed. Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather, we will work through light to moderate rain. Bring a reusable water bottle, water will not be available. All other project supplies and equipment will be provided.
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. An additional email will be sent the day prior to the workday with project details; registration after 12:00 pm will not receive the details email. Space is limited to 15 participants to ensure a safe, hands-on experience for all volunteers.
