Learn about Tarentum’s trail development and future connections from our Trail Development Project Manager from 9:00-9:30am followed by a litter cleanup!
Volunteers will split into two groups both starting at the Tarentum launch:
- Land based – walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and surrounding areas collecting litter
- Water based – launch and paddle upstream along the Allegheny River docking along the riverbanks to collect litter
Water based registration is limited to 12 participants total; if you have your own vessel (kayak or canoe), we encourage you to bring it. We have 12 available seats in the Friends fleet in a kayak or canoe for those that do not have their own. Previous paddling experience recommended. If you are a beginner or have never paddled before, please email Ashley Martin at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org and we can discuss! There is no registration limit for the land based portion.
Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes, long pants, and layered sleeves to be removed. Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather, we will work through light to moderate rain. If we need to cancel, we will notify volunteers via email the morning of the event. Bring a reusable water bottle, water refills will be available. All other project supplies and equipment will be provided.
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. An additional email will be sent the day prior to the workday with project details and what to expect; registration after 12:00 pm will not receive the details email.
Please reach out to Ashley Martin, Trail Stewardship Program Manager, with questions at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org.
