Friends of the Riverfront partnered with Harrison Township to construct a trail head for the Three Rivers Water Trail in Natrona. In 2019, Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) donated unimproved property to the Township at the corner of River Rd and Sycamore St to be used as parking for the TRWT and the future Three Rivers Heritage Trail connection.

This project will focus on two key elements for improvement.

Trailhead Parking – When the launch was constructed in 2013 there was no established parking. In 2019, Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) donated unimproved property to the Township at the corner of River Rd and Sycamore St to be used as parking for the TRWT and the future Three Rivers Heritage Trail connection. A design of the space was completed by a local design and reviewed with the public. Improvements to the launch will include paving the site, adding ingress and egress, vegetation, and updated signage.

Sidewalks & Crossing – The parking lot is roughly 330Ft from the launch location. The project includes the rehabilitation of the existing sidewalks to ensure ADA access and the addition of crosswalks across Sycamore St and River Rd to the launch site. This adds safe passage to the launch site and secure safe crossing across River Rd, which has significant truck traffic from local industry.
