Volunteers will split into two groups both starting at South Side Riverfront Park:
- Land based – walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail collecting litter and clearing vegetation
- Water based – launch from South Side Riverfront Park and float down the Monongahela River collecting litter along the way before paddling back upstream
All volunteers will meet at South Side Riverfront Park. We will split into groups (land/water) and both head downstream along the Three Rivers Heritage and Water Trail.
Water registration is limited to 12 participants; if you have your own vessel (kayak or canoe), we encourage you to bring it. We have 12 available seats in the Friends fleet in a kayak or canoe for those that do not. Previous paddling experience preferred. Land registration is limited to 12 participants. When registering, please select water or land based work; we will not be rotating groups during this event.
Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and layered sleeves to be removed. Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather, we will work through light to moderate rain. Bring a reusable water bottle, water refills will be available. All other project supplies and equipment will be provided.
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. An additional email will be sent the day prior to the workday with project details and what to expect; registration after 12:00 pm will not receive the details email.
Please reach out to Ashley Martin, Trail Stewardship Program Manager, with questions at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org. If you have not paddled before but are interested in registering for water based work, please email me and we can discuss!
