In May of 2023, the Tarentum and East Deer Trail Feasibility Study was completed to connect Tarentum and East Deer up- and down-river as a part of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The Feasibility Study can be viewed here.

In July 2024, Friends and Tarentum Borough began taking their segment into design and engineering.

RECOMMENDED ROUTE FROM FEASIBILITY STUDY
The recommended route will connect to Brackenridge and remain off-road through Dreshar Stadium to a proposed bridge across the pump house inlet into Tarentum Riverview Memorial Park. The route remains within the park until it connects to East 1st Avenue. From here, alternative options are being evaluated to connect to the boat launch. From the boat launch, the route is on-road (separated bike lanes) on West 4th Avenue, and West 6th Avenue into the park behind the basketball court and pavilion. To learn more about the connection into East Deer, see our project page here.
