Trail Tuesdays are our weekly volunteer workdays, and we have a small but mighty group of regulars join us weekly. Each month we tend to stick to one section of the trail. As we make our way along the section, we get our hands dirty cutting back invasive plants like Japanese Knotweed from encroaching on the trail, removing invasive vines like Oriental Bittersweet from our native riverfront trees, and picking up litter on and along the trail. We’ll gather around to identify different plants we come across and discuss newsworthy plants or pests that threaten the health of our riverfront ecosystems. With a small group, it makes for a great opportunity for first-time volunteers to learn hands-on and gain experience in trail stewardship.
