Trail Tuesday
Trail Tuesdays are our weekly volunteer workdays. We have a small but mighty group of regulars join us weekly, but more hands are always welcome! Each month we focus on one section of the Trail. (October's focus will be on the South Side. November's focus TBD.) We get our hands dirty cutting back invasive plants like Japanese Knotweed, removing invasive vines like Oriental Bittersweet, caring for newly planted native trees, and picking up litter on and along the trail. Join us along the Monongahela River! For this cleanup we will be partnering with Allegheny CleanWays, Nine Mile Run, and the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. Our team will work along the riverfront and from the Trail to remove accumulated litter and debris, as well as complete some Trail maintenance such as vine cutting and removal of invasive plants. Join us on the Duck Hollow segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and the Three Rivers Water Trail launch. Volunteers will clean up the trail and launch site. Join us out on the trail for a tree planting worday! We'll plant 25 medium-sized trees, each will be 5-10 years old. Don’t worry, holes will be loosened for planting! Some shoveling of mulch and dirt, as well as shifting of trees, will be required.
