Friends has partnered up with Cheswick Borough and Gibson-Thomas to complete a development plan for their future segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. This route is projected to be about 1-mile and ideally run along the riverfront. The final route of this segment of the trail will be determined through the planning process and with community input. This project also includes the development of a community connector that will connect residents from the north side of Freeport Rd. to Rachel Carson Park, creating a safe path for residents. The connector will not only benefit residents, but also act as a detour in the event of riverfront flooding events.

The planning study for this project was completed in July 2023.
